Who can sign up for an individual membership on ClassScene?

If your school has an account with ClassScene, all members of that school community are encouraged to sign up. This includes students, parents, relatives, alumni, staff and faculty.

How do I sign up for a school account on ClassScene?

Getting started is an easy three-step process:

  1. If you are a school administrator or faculty member, click here to sign up today! You can also select Sign Up at the top of the page. Then select School and complete a short form with your information. You will receive an email with the Membership Agreement for your approval.
  2. Once you have paid for your account and sent in your Membership Agreement, your school gallery will be activated.
  3. You will receive a Welcome Email from ClassScene requesting times and dates for a Service Delivery Session. During the Service Delivery Session, a ClassScene Manager will walk you through setting up your school account and discuss ways you can launch ClassScene within your school. Once you confirm the time, you will receive a confirmation email containing your user name and password.

How do I sign up for an individual membership on ClassScene?

Click here to sign up today! You can also select Sign Up at the top of the page. Then select Individual and complete a short form with your information. Parents and students may sign up by obtaining a Member Registration Code from your school, by email invitation from your school, or by requesting membership from the school via the "Membership" link on the ClassScene.com homepage. Depending on your school settings, students may need to be invited by a parent after the parent obtains an account. Students under 13 years of age must submit their parent’s email address to obtain verifiable consent from the parent to obtain a ClassScene membership. This is in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy and Protection Act (COPPA). For more information on this Act, see our Privacy & Security section via the link at the bottom of each ClassScene page.

How do I get a Member Registration Code?

If your school chooses to use registration codes, ClassScene will provide the school with cards that will each have a unique registration code. Registration cards are distributed at the school’s discretion. Each registration code is valid for one account sign-up.

Why is a credit card required in some instances to sign up for a parent membership?

Each school decides whether they want to require their adult members to provide a credit card number at signup. During the registration process, credit card information is obtained from the parent account to verify the name and address of the person signing up. To confirm parental notification, a $0.05 charge will be applied, and then immediately refunded, to the parent’s credit card. Upon verification, the credit card information will be destroyed. This process was developed to ensure the safety and security of the child applying for membership

How many people can a parent invite?

Once your school information is verified and the parent account is set up, you will be able to invite five people at a time to join your school's ClassScene.com school gallery.

What can I do with my individual membership?

Answer: With your membership, you can:

  • Upload and share photos and videos with friends and family members
  • Promote school activities
  • Rate, comment and tag photos. You can even send them to your Facebook or MySpace page.
  • Make your own slideshows
  • Create and buy personalized items

Account Status

How long does my membership last?

Individual Membership, basic or premium, will last for one calendar year from the time the membership was created or renewed.

Can a parent choose different settings for the student or relative memberships associated with their membership?

Yes, parents can go into My Account and select Manage Individual Accounts. From there, parents can enable or disable settings for all of the people they invited (students, if applicable, and relative accounts).

What is the Gallery?

The Gallery is where all photos and videos are showcased. Individual members can create multiple, customized Galleries, including the Galleries listed below:

  • Global Gallery: This gallery showcases photos and videos that have been approved as "public" in the school’s content review process. A public photo or video is viewable to anyone who visits ClassScene.com. The global gallery is populated with all public photos and videos from each school account. A user does not need to be logged in to view public photos and videos.
  • School Gallery: The school gallery showcases photos and videos specific to a school. Public photos and videos can be viewed by anyone who visits that school’s media gallery by clicking Find My School. Members who have gone through the registration process with their school and are logged in with their username and password will be able to view all photos and videos on their school’s gallery, including those reviewed and approved as "private to my school" or "private to ClassScene members."
  • My Gallery: This is your individual, private gallery that only you can see.

How do I upload a photo or video?

Uploading photos and videos is a snap on ClassScene! After logging in you can:

  1. Click on Upload in the upper right corner of page.
  2. Select the Browse button and locate the files you want to upload. If there are multiple files, highlight them and click Open.
  3. Agree to the Terms and Conditions and click Upload.
  4. Title, categorize and describe your media.

How long will it take to upload a photo or video?

The larger the file size, the longer it will take to upload into your gallery.

How many photos and videos can I upload at a time?

All media is converted from the original file format to the ClassScene format. Depending upon your school setting, you may be able to download the original file.

How many photos and videos can I upload at a time?

Once I've uploaded, can I download the original photo/video uploaded?

What is the maximum photo size I can upload?

With a basic membership, each photo is limited to 10M. With a premium membership, each photo is limited to 20M.

What is the maximum video size I can upload?

With a basic membership, each video is limited to 100M. With a premium membership, each video is limited to 1G

How can I be sure that my photos meet the specifications for use in the yearbook and on merchandise?

Generally, the higher the resolution, the more likely your images will meet the minimum yearbook specifications. An image resolution of 2560 x 1920 pixels, 5.0 megapixels or higher, will produce a high-quality image which is good enough for a full page in the yearbook.

What is the review process my photos and videos go through before they can be seen on the School Gallery?

Depending on your school's settings, once a photo or video has been reviewed and approved it will be posted to the selected gallery. The content reviewer(s), who are determined by the school, check for the items such as:

  • Obscene or inappropriate gestures
  • Copyright infringement
  • Trademarked logos or symbols
  • Nudity
  • Profanity
  • Embarrassing photos or videos
  • Grammar and spelling errors
  • Other items not compliant with school policies
The photo or video can be approved or rejected in the content review area. Either way, the user who submitted the photo or video will be notified.

Can I share my photos and videos?

Photos and videos can only be shared from the Gallery if the school has given permission to Share. Sharing capabilities include:

  • Email Link — This enables members to email a link for a specific photo or video. By clicking on the email link, the recipient will be able to view the photo or video.
  • Get Link — This enables members to copy the link (URL) of a specific photo or video.
  • Facebook — This allows members to send their media to their Facebook account.
  • MySpace — This allows members to send their media to their MySpace account.

How can I organize my media?

Click on Content Manager to Organize, Upload or Download your Content.

What photo formats does ClassScene accept?

  • GIF — Graphics Interchange Format
  • JPEG, JPG — Joint Photographs Expert Group
  • PNG — Portable Network Graphic
  • TIFF, TIF — Tagged Image File Format

What video formats does ClassScene accept?

    Video:
  • ASF — Advanced System Format
  • AVI — Audio Video Interleave
  • MOV — Apple Quicktime Movie
  • MPG — Motion Picture Experts Group
  • QT — Apple Quicktime Movie
  • SWF — Macromedia Flash Movie
  • WMV — Windows Media Video

Note: ClassScene does not accept DVD files including .VOB, .BUP, or .IFO formats. These file formats are part of a DVD container format and are not actual video files.

Can I view the content in other people's personal galleries?

Only ClassScene School Account Administrators can view content in a personal gallery if it is associated with their school. Depending on your school's settings, parents may be able to view their student's gallery if the student is invited to be a member by the parent. Other individual members cannot view the content in others" individual galleries. However, individual members can share content from their gallery with other members from their gallery page if the school has granted permission within the account controls.

Can I edit my ClassScene photos?

Yes. On your My Account page, just go to Tools > FotoFlexer and you can fix red eye, rotate, adjust contrast and colors, add effects and much more!

Can I edit my ClassScene videos?

No, we do not currently offer any video editing.

How do I review and approve media?

After login into your account, click on "Review Content" link in the upper right portion of your screen and you will be directed to the Content Review page. From here, you can simply check the box(es) above any photo or video and Approve or Reject using the buttons in the upper right portion of your screen.

What is the School Store?

With customizable items ranging from apparel to photo books, there is something for everyone!

Your ClassScene School Store will offer a wide selection of merchandise that can be personalized, including:

  • Print items such as photo prints, mugs and memory books, personalized with your school photos
  • Apparel items such as t-shirts, sweats and hoodies, personalized to your school

Can I order prints from ClassScene?

Yes, you can! It's as simple as selecting School Store from your My Account page and then select prints from the list of available items. Select Start Printing and your ClassScene photos will load so that you can select from your available image.

What items can I personalize and order on ClassScene?

We offer a variety of items including prints, calendars and apparel. To see the full listing, simply select School Store from your My Account page.

How do I personalize items from School Store?

After logging in, go to My Account > School Store. Select the item you would like to order. ClassScene will then import your images so that you can select which image you want to use when personalizing your item.

How can the School Store provide revenue to my school?

The ClassScene School Store provides revenue for your school in several ways!

  • For every purchase made by your members, ClassScene will give your school 10% back!
  • Additionally, if you have items already produced that you would like to promote in the School Store, just let us know. You will be able to set pricing on these items. Contact a ClassScene Account Manager to initiate the process.

How much will I pay for my school's ClassScene account?

A ClassScene school account is a great value! For a limited time, we are offering an account at $1,000! If you are a district signing on, we offer additional discounts for your middle schools and elementary schools.

How can I pay for a ClassScene account?

We will invoice you upon executing a membership agreement.

Individuals

How much will I pay for an individual membership?

There are two types of memberships for individuals: Basic and Premium. A Basic Membership is free. A Premium Membership costs $20 per member annually. In order to obtain either membership, your school must first sign up for a ClassScene School Account.

What is the difference between a Basic Membership and a Premium Membership?

Beginning October 1, 2008, members will be able to pay for a Premium Account through the School Store.

How do I obtain my password if I forget it?

At the log-in screen, click on the Forgot password link. You will then be required to enter the email address that is affiliated with your membership. Upon clicking submit, an email will be sent to you that allows you to reset your password.

How do I know my payment information is secure?

ClassScene has partnered with PayPal to ensure that all credit card transactions are safely executed. ClassScene does not store any payment information. ClassScene does keep records of all payments made so that you can track your account history.
